British buyers optimistic about property market

Buyers of UK property are still confident about the prospects for
the market, a new study has discovered.
According to Halifax, the number of people who expect house prices
to rise over the next year is greater than the number who expect
them to fall.
Some 34 per cent of Brits expect to see an increase, while just 19
per cent are expecting a dip in home values.
The most confident areas of the country are Scotland and the south
of England.
This comes at a time when the Office for National Statistics (ONS)
has reported that house prices across the UK rose by 2.3 per cent
in the 12 months up until the end of May this year.
Martin Ellis, housing economist at Halifax, said: "Overall, we
expect little change in prices and sales over the remainder of the
year provided that the UK's economic outlook does not deteriorate
significantly."
